Brandon Robbins, RTC
I’m a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor based in Victoria, BC.
My work focuses on grief, loss, identity, relationships, and the transitions that can leave us wondering what comes next. I work with people who may be carrying something they haven't been able to put into words, or who are trying to understand themselves after something in their life has changed.
My approach is grounded in the belief that counselling should feel like a conversation with someone genuinely interested in understanding you—not an assessment you have to pass.

My Professional Background
I hold a Professional Counselling Diploma from Rhodes Wellness College in Vancouver and am a member of the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT).
I have more than five years of counselling experience across community-based mental health, supportive housing, recovery, harm reduction, and men's mental health. My clinical work has included grief and loss, trauma, relational disruption, identity transitions, and the many changes that can accompany major life events.
I have provided more than 1000+ hours of direct client care, supported by more than 163 hours of clinical supervision.
I am also a Pacific Blue Cross Approved Mental Health Provider.
Before becoming a counsellor, I served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years. That experience shaped how I understand responsibility, identity, service, transition, and what happens when a role that once defined us ends.
Counselling became a way for me to continue that sense of service, but in a different form.
How I Work
I practice from a trauma-informed and culturally responsive perspective. For me, that means taking the time to understand the person rather than reducing their experience to a diagnosis or a problem to be solved.
I don't believe you need to arrive at counselling with everything figured out. You don't even need to know exactly what you want to talk about.
Sometimes you know something is wrong.
Sometimes you know something has changed.
Sometimes you simply know that the way you've been doing things isn't working anymore.
We can start there.
My work has developed around three movements:
-
Look Within
-
We explore your inner world—your emotions, patterns, beliefs, relationships, and the experiences that have shaped how you understand yourself.
-
-
Look Around
-
We consider the world you're living in. Relationships, family, culture, community, work, expectations, and circumstances all influence how we experience ourselves and the choices available to us.
-
-
Move Through
-
Change often involves endings. We explore what has been lost, what has changed, what needs to be acknowledged, and how you want to move forward.
-
These movements inform the different ways I work with people, including the House of Wonder, Embodied Energy, and journaling-based practices.
What I Bring Into The Room
I bring curiosity, honesty, humour, and a willingness to sit with difficult conversations.
I don't see my role as having all the answers. My role is to help you become more curious about your own.
My own life has included significant transitions, losses, changes in identity, and periods of having to reconsider what comes next. Those experiences don't make my story the same as yours, and they don't make me an expert in your life.
They do remind me that change is rarely as simple as deciding to “move on.”
Sometimes we need to understand what we're leaving before we can decide where we're going.
A Little More About Me
Outside of counselling, I spend a lot of time paying attention to the world around me. Nature, animals, the moon, stories, creativity, and the ways people create meaning from their experiences all influence how I see the work I do.
That curiosity has become part of my practice.
I’m interested in the things that don't always fit neatly into a treatment plan: the meaning we give our experiences, the stories we tell ourselves, the things we carry, and the parts of ourselves we may have put away for a long time.
This is also where much of my own creative and therapeutic work has developed.
The House of Wonder, Embodied Energy, and my work with journaling are ways of creating different entry points into conversations that can sometimes be difficult to begin.
If You're Considering Counselling
You don't need to have the right words before reaching out.
You don't need to know whether what you're experiencing is “serious enough.”
And you don't need to know exactly what you want to accomplish.
You can simply start with what's happening in your life right now.
From there, we can figure out where to go together.
If you're ready to have that conversation, I'd be glad to meet you.
